Scandal & Shiver

The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden crosses the Channel under the baton of its incoming artistic director Jakub Hrůša for a guest performance at the Elbphilharmonie. On the program: Bartók’s The Miraculous Mandarin Suite—once personally banned in the 1920s by Cologne’s deeply Catholic mayor Konrad Adenauer—and Dvořák’s hauntingly beautiful cantata The Spectre’s Bride.
