DA PONTE CYCLE OF MUSICAETERNA

The Da Ponte cycle of Teodor Currentzis and musicAeterna, which was released at Sony Classical between 2014 and 2017, has been one of the cornerstones of the worldwide attention that the ensemble and its still polarizing principal conductor have been receiving for years: “Everyone gives everything: a Don Giovanni for eternity”, Werner Theurich enthused at the time in the German news magazine Spiegel, while Markus Thiel heard more “dressage” as interpretation in the Münchner Merkur. Since then, musicAeterna and Teodor Currentzis have gained a unique reputation in the international classical world in many concerts in the most important halls of Europe with a versatile repertoire, with highly idiosyncratic interpretations, but in any case with a captivating enthusiasm. Now they return with their Da Ponte cycle to the Bremen Music Festival, to the Konzerthaus Vienna and to the LUCERNE FESTIVA, where the visitors can not only look forward to the three operas, but also to an evening with arias from Idomeneo, presented by one of the most famous Mozart interpreters in the world: Cecilia Bartoli.
