Formed in September 2016 from the merger of the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart and the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg, its artistic profile includes interpretative approaches from historically informed performance practice, the classical-romantic core repertoire and contemporary music in equal measure. In September 2025, Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Roth will take over the position of Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the SWR Symphonyorchester, succeeding Teodor Currentzis, who was at the helm of the orchestra from 2018 to 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Internationally sought-after conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Peter E\u00f6tv\u00f6s, Pablo Heras-Casado, Jakub Hr\u016f\u0161a, Eliahu Inbal and Giedr\u0117 \u0160lekyt\u0117 and many others have worked with the SWR Symphonieorchester. Among the high-calibre soloists are Leif Ove Andsnes, Yulianna Avdeeva, Vilde Frang and Christian Tetzlaff. Since September 2024, violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja has been the SWR Symphony Orchestra&#8217;s Artistic Partner for two seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2024, the SWR Symphonieorchester has been an
